Would you like to see one of the best Independence Day fireworks displays in the United States? Whether you're in the North, South, East, or West you'll find spectacular, well-known Fourth of July fireworks displays across the country. It's likely that one of them is not too far from you. Below we've featured some of the most notable.

Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks in New York City

During the day, most  NYC residents visit out-of-town relatives for picnics or barbecues, or they go to the beach. Many shops are closed. However, the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks held at 9 pm uses 40,000 fireworks. That makes it the largest fireworks display in the United States. The fireworks are launched off of the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge. The best seating is the Brooklyn Bridge Park or between the Manhattan Bridge and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in lower Manhattan. You can also view the fireworks from a boat tour or a dinner cruise.

Fourth of July in Chicago

When you think of the Fourth of July in Chicago, think Fourth of July on Lake Michigan. Festivities include music and food at the Grant Park Music Festival and the Freedom Festival on the Navy Pier. For a view of the fireworks, reserve a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan.

Let Freedom Sing in Nashville

Explore Nashville during the day and enjoy the Nashville headliners on the concert stage. Then watch one of the nation's most spectacular firework displays synchronized with a performance by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

Go 4th on the River in New Orleans

When you Go 4th on the River in New Orleans during the day, you can visit the French Quarter, the Central Business District, or the festivities and food vendors on the river walk. In the evening, you can view the fireworks at 9 pm. Seeing the fireworks is big and easy in NOLA. The fireworks are launched from dueling barges on the Mississippi River while you watch from the banks of the river.  You also can take a riverboat and see the fireworks directly overhead.

Kaboom Town Celebration at Addison, Texas

Addison, Texas, north of Dallas, holds an annual Kaboom Town Celebration.  Enjoy the Freedom Flyover, live music, food, and fireworks. Many restaurants and hotels have watch parties. Addison Circle Park hosts a public watch party. Check online for the date. The public watch party begins at 5 p. m.  with the historic plane flyovers between 7:30 p. m and 9:15 p. m. The fireworks start at 9:30 p. m.

Fair St Louis

Fair St Louis is a three-day event at the St Louis Gateway Arch. It features family activities, a kid zone, and an air show. For a special evening, you can watch the fireworks from a riverboat.

Fourth of July in Las Vegas

Would you expect anything less than a myriad of activities from a Fourth of July in Las Vegas? Things to do can be found all over town, or you can just relax poolside.  In the evening, there are fireworks displays all over the valley.

Seafair Summer Fourth in Seattle

Seafair Summer Fourth in Seattle runs from noon until 11 p. m. The fireworks choreographed to music on Lake Union are the best in the Northwest and can be viewed from The Gas Works Park and South Lake Union Park.

Pier 39 Fourth of July in San Francisco

There are events during much of the day on Pier 39. Then, in the evening, fireworks are launched from the end of the pier and two by barges in the San Francisco Bay.

Elizabeth and Marilyn have plans to purchase a small motorhome and head out on the open road.

In 1979, they took a six-week family vacation across the U.S. from Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio through St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio,  California, Reno, and Vegas, baby.
